Shawn Regan

In the spring of 2008, Shawn Regan, a native of Hampton, Virginia, was selected to start the baseball program at Arkansas Baptist College. The Buffalo baseball team competed for the first time in the spring of 2009 at the NJCAA Division I level, finishing with an overall record of 14-30. In 2010, the Buffaloes finished their second season 24-32 (2-18 in the first season competing in the Bi State Conference). The Buffaloes notched conference victories over Seminole State and Rose State. The 2010 team lost their opening round game in the Regional Tournament 5-4 to the #1 seed NEO. Regan spent eleven years (1999-2010) at J.A. Fair High School in Little Rock, as an English teach and coach; seven as the head baseball coach and his first two years as an assistant to Coach Mike Johnson. Coach Regan led the War Eagles to a #6 state ranking and a 20-11 record in his first season as head coach in 2002. Fair collected only its second state tournament victory in school history by defeating top ranked Watson Chapel 1-0, in nine innings. Regan played high school baseball at Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas for Coach Harley Sisson. Regan was an All-Conference and All-State pitcher/first baseman for the Bobcats, playing in two state tournaments, before graduating in 1993. Shawn was elected to the Hope High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Coach Regan attended the University of Central Arkansas from 1993-1998. Regan attained a BSE in Social Studies/ English with a coaching endorsement. Regan has coached for De Queen High School (1998-99), Hope Dixie Majors (1999), J.A. Fair High School (1999-2010), Little Rock American Legion (2000-2003), Central Arkansas USSSA (2004-2007), and now Arkansas Baptist College (2008-present). Coach Regan spent four summer seasons as the head coach of the USSSA Central Arkansas Indians/Arkansas Select Angels. The Indians finished #6 in the nation in 2004 (48-14), #2 in the nation (32-6) in 2005, #8 in the nation (21-9) in 2006. Regan (294-262 as a head coach) has had the opportunity to coach with numerous knowledgeable and decorated coaches. He has also coached over 100 college baseball players and numerous Major League Draft Picks such as: Zack Davis (J. A. Fair/ Baltimore Orioles), Andrew Davie (LR Legion/St. Louis Cardinals), Richard O’Brien (LR Legion/Chicago White Sox), Josh Sullivan (LR Legion/ Colorado Rockies), Garry Thomas, Jr (Arkansas Baptist College/ St. Louis Cardinals), Sam Bates (USSSA Indians/ Florida Marlins) and Brian Bryles (USSSA Indians/ Tampa Bay Rays). In 12 years of coaching, Regan has served as a head baseball coach, assistant head basketball coach, and defensive coordinator/assistant head football coach. Regan also served as a leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at JA Fair. Coach Regan met his wife, Crystal (Fitzhugh) Regan, while attending college at UCA. The couple married in March of 1999 and have two beautiful children, Jewell (8) and Jackson (7).
