TOREY DESHAZIER SIGNS WITH KANSAS CITY ROYALS

For the second  year in a row a buffalo baseball players has signed with a professional baseball team.  Saturday night Torey Deshazier a pitcher out of Pine Bluff Arkansas inked a free agent deal with the Kansas City Royals.  Torey had a 6 and 5 record with the with a ERA of 3.40.  Last year Kentrell Hill (Asahdown) signed with the Giants. Kentrell is presently hitting over 300 in the rookie league and will be moving up to Class A  ball.

The Buffalo Baseball Team defeated No.1 Northeast Oklahoma A&M in the first round of the conference tournament last night 8 to 0 in Tulsa, OK.  Pitcher Jonathan Nathan Pirl pitched 9 shut out innings while giving up only 3 hits.  First baseman Ian Gilley had a big night at the plate hitting 2 home runs in the Buffaloes route of the No. 1 seed Norsemen.  The Buffaloes play Rose State in the Semifinals tonight at 7:00pm.

Congratulations to the following Buffalo Baseball players for making All-Region this season.  This is a big honor for these young men and Arkansas Baptist College Baseball. 

 First Team All-Region: Catcher-Patrick Castleberry, 3B-Tanner Rockwell

Honorable Mention All-Region: OF Roderick Lewis, Pitcher-Torey Deshazier, Pitcher-Nathan Pirl

Golden Glove Award: 38 Tanner Rockwell

 

NEWS 3/2/2012

 

The Arkansas Baptist College Baseball team defeated the NUMBER # 2 ranked team in NJCAA baseball nation, the Jones County (Mississippi)  Community College Bobcats, 3-2 last night.  This marks the highest ranked team defeated by a Buffaloes Baseball Team in the history of the program.  We are excited about this group of guys and what they have, can, and will accomplish.

Winning pitcher was Torey Deshazier (Pine Bluff High) and the save went to Dyllon Brownmiller (Parkers Chapel High).  Xavier Brown (Jacksonville High School) got the game winning hit (and RBI).

Three Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes Baseball Team Members Receive NJCAA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN HONORS!  Each athlete must have maintained a 3.6 during 4 full time semesters as members of the baseball team.  There were 6 Baseball Academic All Americans in our Region (ABC had 3)…Awesome!  Josue Deleon and Eddy Devora received the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award with a 3.72 GPA.  Beau Fulcher received the Superior Academic Achievement Award with a 3.8 GPA.  Another group of young men from ABC that are on their way to great success.  Beau Fulcher signed a full scholarship to Arkansas Tech University where he will be playing baseball and Josue Deleon and Eddy Devora are looking to attend Jackson State University and continue their baseball careers.
